Basic Design

We love working with emerging startups in Vancouver, and the story of The Capilano Tea House and images of Grandmother Nahanee’s baskets completely captivated us. To celebrate the Nahanee family heritage, we sought inspiration from traditional Squamish Nation woodworking as well as more recent Indigenous cultural architecture around BC. We designed custom benches, countertops and side tables using reclaimed Douglas Fir. Details include heavyweight joinery to ground the benches as well as patterns derived from Grandmother Nahanee’s basket designs etched into the side table tops.
